A hot tub thermal cover with a thickness of 15 cm has a significantly better (lower) U-value than a model with a thickness of 12 cm, i.e. the thermal insulation is higher and energy losses are lower.

- A 15 cm cover saves noticeably more energy than the 12 cm variant.
- The difference means: with the same outside temperature and water heat, significantly less energy flows outside with 15 cm.
Marine vinyl spa spa covers typically last around 5 to 7 years with normal care, often longer if UV and mold residue is minimal and the surface is not damaged by weathering. They are quite well protected against moisture, mold and UV and are the established industry standard for outdoor use.
Weather Shield covers are a new, lighter and particularly UV and tear-resistant polyester fabric which, according to manufacturers and user experience, often lasts longer than vinyl - the average service life is usually 6 to 9 years, and even longer under optimum conditions. Weather Shield is three times more robust against environmental influences and lighter, deforms less, does not tear as quickly and remains stable even in strong sun and frost.

- Weather Shield is particularly worthwhile for strong sunlight, frequent cleaning and frost/outdoor exposure.
- A marine vinyl cover is cheaper and also tried and tested, but visually and technically more classic and heavier.
According to current experience, Weather Shield offers the longest durability and is therefore usually the better choice for heavy use - on average, there can be a difference of up to 1 to 2 years per year
