Whirlpool cover care instructions
Hot tub covers are an investment in your hot tub, and as with any investment, you want to protect it. This guide offers maintenance tips to help you save money and maximize the life of your spa cover.
Pollen, leaves, dust and other debris not only make for an unsightly spa cover, but can also promote mold, moss and other damage. Extend the life and maintain the beauty of your cover with regular preventative maintenance:
- Rinse with cold water using a garden hose
- Spray with a mild, pH-neutral and non-foaming cleaning agent
- Clean carefully with a non-abrasive sponge
- Rinse thoroughly again and leave to dry
- Repeat monthly
Never use detergents or other cleaning agents, abrasive cleaners, bleach, alcohol, washing-up liquid or harsh cleaning agents. These products will remove some of the protective agent from the top layer, which will remove the water-repellent effect of the fabric and dull the vinyl.
Stubborn dirt or stains
Occasionally, covers require more than a gentle cleaning. Instead of using products that can damage your cover, do the following:
- For stubborn dirt, let a gentle cleanser sit for a few minutes before wiping it off.
- Carefully loosen any moss or mold growing on the seams or zipper with a scouring pad.
- Remove sticky tree sap with vegetable oil or margarine.
- Open the zipper to remove mold inside the cover.
Protection
If the cover is now clean, applying a protective agent will extend its life considerably.
We recommend "LIMBIO Cover Shine" as a sunscreen and water repellent and protects the cover from strong UV rays and moisture.
Protection of the fabric:
- Spray the protective agent "LIMBIO Cover Shine" onto the clean, dry fabric until it is evenly wetted
- Leave the protective agent to work for 12 to 24 hours
- Treat monthly in summer, every two months for the rest of the year
Protection of vinyl:
- Spray a thin layer of "LIMBIO Cover Shine" onto the underside of the clean, dry cover
- Spread the layer evenly with a damp cloth or sponge
- Repeat the process on the top and edge of the cover
- Treat monthly in summer, every two months for the rest of the year
